| Bootleg Notes: Aproximately 120 minutes. Videotaped with a Sony TRV-99 Hi-8, from a tripod in the right rear of the room.
This show was to celebrate the release of Gam's 7" vinyl single, Smell My Robot. The camera angle is bad: you can tell that there is a band on stage, but not what kind of instruments they are playing, as the heads of the people in the crowd are in the way. (Actually, though, this is a better view than anybody except the people in the front row had.) The Sony camera features a slow shutter, which in addition to making the room seem brighter gives the footage a hypnotic, grainy, slow motion, film-like quality. A few songs, near the end, are shot in nightvision. The sound quality is marginal, the crowd noise is great, as the on camera mics were used. GAM is in good form, and the crowd is out of control, in fact, people were being turned away at the door beacause the club was at its legal capacity. There are people constantly diving off of the stage, despite the fact that is is only about 18 inches high. Stage setting and props include some sort of demonic cupids, giant eyeballs, an ugly green rubber monster mask, and the GAMFIX 2000, a giant aluminum-foil bong that audience members are encouraged to get up on stage and partake of. Of course, there is fire, wrestling, and bodily fluids, and the threat of nudity. All in all, an excellent show that no GAM fan should be without. |
